31 Jan 2009 - Training event for Churches wanting to help the homeless

a Saturday workshop training event to coincide with Poverty and Homelessness Action Week  http://www.actionweek.org.uk/html/home.html covering How Christians Can Help the Homeless in Preston

Took  place on Saturday 31st January at the Salvation Army from 9:30am to 2;30pm.  You can download the poster for this event  by clicking here

We were delighted that around 50 people from a wide range of churches and other faith communities attended and gained much from sharing their experiences and information. Kevin Mordue form Preston City Council led an informative dialogue about the situation of homelessness in the city and three workshop groups discussed how best they could help and work better together in future.

There was also opportunity for prayer and reflection based around a prayer labyrinth.. Notes from this which will help Christians focus their prayers intelligently are available and can be downloaded from our documents page CLICK HERE

We saw the event as an opportunity for Christians and others to pray and learn together about homeless people in Preston and an opportunity for them to meet with agencies who are working in the field who they may wish to support in prayer, giving and voluntary service.

We are delighted that Preston City Council backed the event and have covered the costs for the venue, publicity and refreshments.
